Personalised Learning at MBS

Personalised Learning is the tailoring of pedagogy, curriculum and learning support to meet the needs and aspirations of
individual learners.

Personalising Learning involves thinking about knowledge as an active process.

Students are informed, active participants in their own learning, they contribute to decisions about how learning works best for them and they have a much better understanding of how they are progressing.

Key Components of Personalised learning

Effective Teaching: Effective teachers know what works best for their students and continually reflect on and refine their teaching practice

Assessment for Learning: Personalised learning depends on having an in-depth knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of every student. Good assessment provides feedback that improves learning outcomes and involves students in the learning process.

Curriculum: The new curriculum provides teachers with more opportunities to apply their professional knowledge as well as setting direction for what will be taught. At MBS we will define, reflect upon, & refine our school curriculum programmes to create a better platform for teachers to provide learning experiences around the needs of their students. Investment in ICT should enable students to be more in control of their own learning and learn at a level that challenges them.

 Strong and Engaged Community:

Personalised learning requires a healthy partnership between home and school. Understanding where students ‘come from’, what drives them and what aspirations their parents and whanau have for them, helps to enhance their learning both at home andat school.

Our aim is to achieve the following by ensuring Personalised Learning is a focal aspect at MBS.

 Our Students shall:

  • have high expectations and ownership of their learning
  • learn how to learn and work with others

Our Parents and Whanau shall:

  • be partners in their children’s learning and involved in teacher- family and community discussions about learning understand how their children are progressing and how their learning can be supported at home and in the community.
